NY Hotels Decision...

I'm deciding between the following three hotels
Westin Times Square
Westin Essex House
Sofitel
I'll be traveling with a 5 year old and we have plans to spend time in both Times Square area, and Central Park. I can get the Sofitel for a rate about $190 for a deluxe. The Westin Essex House is about $50 more (park view) and Westin TS is about the same price (not sure what this includes)
So which hotel would you stay at?
Also the stay will be for Labor Day Weekend. Does it get really crowded during this time?

Thanks

I've not been to the other two hotels, but I loved my park view room at Essex House the last time I stayed there. I think there's probably more to do with a five-year-old in the Park than in Times Square too(?), which may give Essex House another edge.

Labor Day weekend will be especially busy in the tourist areas - although the rest of Manhatan tends to be pretty quiet since so many people go to the beach or the country for the long weekend. With a small child I agree that neaar the park is probably better than in Times Square - very busy and might be intimidating for a child that small.

I too would favor the Essex. My family and I stayed there two weeks ago and had a parkview suite on the 17th floor. What a view! With Central Park right across the street it is a bonus with a 5 year old. Enjoy your stay!

Essex House with a park view, YES!

The Essex House (w/ park view) it is!
Thanks to all for your replies.
My daughter is going to absolutely love it, as will I.
I'll be sure to reply with a report about the hotel, etc. when I return.

Thanks again.
