NY Experts needed for advice.
I will be staying with a friend on Bank Street near Hudson for a few days ( I believe this area is called Greenwich Village)
Could someone tell me what approx. would be the cost of a taxi to Century 21. Also I want to shop on Broadway between Prince and Canal, could I walk to that location from Century 21 after my visit there. I have looked on a map but the distances are hard to figure out. Thanks for any help |
I think hopstop.com now gives approx. cab fares if you plug in the addresses. You can also take the subway to C 21, it would be a very quick ride (ifor for that also on hopstop).
I have made that walk back and for to Century 21 on many occasions. It's a bit over 2 miles. It depends on how much walking you like to do. The walk to/from C 21 on Broadway up to Canal St is pretty quick. |
Bank Street is an extremely nice resdiential section.
I do not know what you are looking for but there are many independent shops in the West and East Village, Century is about 15 minute walk to the shops on Broadway. Between Chambers and Canal there is little to see so I suggest walking a block east and head toward Foley Square and then north. |
you can also catch the C or E train to Century 21 either from W 4th Street and 6th ave or Spring and 6th, get off at Broadway-Nassau.
If you want to take the train shopping on Broadway, take either the B,D,F or V at West 4th Street/6th Avenue to Broadway-Lafayette and you will be at Houston and Broadway. Just walk south. Not sure what you are shopping for in the area, but the streets off Broadway in either direction (though preferably east) have cute small shops. Not much beyond chain shops on B'way. Unless you mean West Broadway? Also, Century 21 is a MADHOUSE. If you are looking for designer, you might want to check out some sample sales. They list in Time Out NY and on nymetro.com. if you are sample size, you might find something one of a kind and without the fuss of Century. Oh and a taxi to Century 21 during the day should run @ $8-10, depending on traffic. You could walk or take the R train to Prince Street. A |
Thanks everyone for the replies.
Alot of good suggestions. |
I would advise going to Century 21 fist thing in the morning. Check their web site...I think they open at 7:45 in the morning.

First thing in the morning at C 21 is the best time. Avoid it on weekdays during the lunch and afterwork hours. Although as much of a zoo that it can be, they are well-staffed and lines move rather quickly.
