NW Bed and Breakfast Unlimited??
Trying to locate this organization I used years ago to advertise and screen potential visitors to stay/host in my home. Lavonne was the local Portland Oregon representative. Not sure if they have changed names or out of business. If you know of other similar guide books/services that would be great too.

I'm sorry I don't know either. But I am interested in knowing more about such such an organization. If you own a B&B: are there organizations that screen vistors?

nanabee, that is what I am asking....does anyone know of the agency or anything like it in Portland, OR. I hosted guests in my home through NW Bed and Breakfast Unlimited (Lavonne) who published this guidebook through Fodors and screened folks needing accommodations in the area. They would call me to ask if I would host a particular guest and if it fit in my schedule. Met some very nice people while making little extra income. The business is not listed any longer and don't know if it changed names or closed. This is 15 years later.

I had no idea there was such an organization or guidebook for B&B owners but I am interested to know more too. You have an interesting question - it's too bad you haven't gotten more responses. If it was published thru Fodor's maybe you can contact them directly?

It could be that new regulations forced them to go out of business. The b&b business is a very real one. I am licensed by my city, county and state here in FL. Lots of changes have taken place in the last 15 years. Someone opening a room to guests not being licensed would be illegal here. Just my thoughts.

Thurstonbb...you may be right. Although NW B & B selected various locations to feature in their guide book West Coast Town and Country B & B's...directory of homes and inns. So we were one of few selected from Portland featured in the guide also advertised w/ fodors. The organization would then be the go between screening visitors and helping them select and book a location. Because it was our personal homes, this just worked well for both parties...it was professional and created a security layer for the homeowner.
