Northstar/Lake Tahoe

Hi everyone.
I will be travelling to Lake Tahoe from January 3rd to 10th along to my wife and 10 years old daughter and will be staying at Northstar at Tahoe.
Do you think itīs thr right choice?

Thank you.

We spend a fair amount of time at Northstar with my partner's brother and his wife in their home there.

Right choice for what? Skiing? There's a lot of major construction going on there, what kind of accomodations do you have?

You do know that you need a car to drive to most everything. There's not a lot in Northstar other than the skiing?

Just to spend a nice family vacation;a skiing a while , playing snowgames, dinig, having a nice coffee. we dont do casinos or nightlife specially because we are with our daughter. Is it a nice acommodation?

Is WHAT a nice accommodation? There are various condos of different quality, there are homes, there are some motel like rooms. I don't know where you're staying at Northstar -- it's quite a huge area. And I haven't seen the newest accommodations if you are booked in those.
But actually I don't know of anything there that isn't pretty nice.

I would consider Northstar an excellent choice for your family. They have good snowmaking in case there isn't much natural snow yet, all the lodging options are pretty nice, and while it is fairly large, it is also fairly easy to meet up again if you split up to ski different runs. The main limitation is that it doesn't have the really steep chutes and expert terrain that some Tahoe areas such as Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows have.

Spend pretty much every winter weekend at NOrthstar. The staff is super friendly there. More and more shops and restuarants are added. Thjere is an outdoor ice arena. They have outdoor entertainment during the day. If you stay in a condo there is an extensive shuttel system to take you back and forth to the resort.

It's really close to the Lake - Kings Beach is closest at about 10 minutes away. It's really close to Truckee.

The construction going on at the village has never bothered me. There is always a ton of staff stationed around to help everyone find what they need. They have lockers avaialbel, you can store your gear overnight if you don't want to take it on the shuttle. Everything is super convenient.

They opened a new snowboard terrain park near the end of the season this year.
