NOrthshore Oahu

Looking for nice condo or hotel on the NOrthshore of Oahu. Not over $270.00 a night. Turtle Bay resort is an option b ut really prefer Condo. Are there any on the northshore or are they all in Waikiki. We don't care of Waikiki so have opted for 4 nights on the northshore to just relax. Need recommendations. Please help as we are going January 30th.

There are not a lot of options on the Northshore once you get past Turtle Bay. Turtle Bay has the best hotel and the best condos. You may be able to find a rental beach house up there.

Do a search for "Turtle Bay Condos". There are studio to 2/3 bedroom condos within the Turtle Bay Resort area. They are along the golf course. If we go, we will definately stay there. I think a 2 bedroom in June was $800-$900/week.

Was there last month and other than Turtle Bay did not see anything (except one property with to rent rooms sign)nor anything in the phone book. I am amazed there is not a little more in the way of hotels - would be nice if there were a few b & bs or small hotels outside Waikiki.

Check out this place. It is a little West of North Shore, but we love it. It is only about 5 miles to Haleiwa. Right on the water, you can't get any closer. It is not a deluxe condo but is comfortable and in the best location. She just put about $5,000 in refurbishment, so it is probably much nicer than the last time we went. I'll be back in May for 2 weeks.

http://www.cyberrentals.com/HI/BlackOAHU.html#

Duane

Nick, there are some low profile small hotels, such as one in Laie (by Polynesian Cultural Center), one on the shores of Pearl Harbor, and elsewhere. When new ones are proposed, there is a lot of vocal opposition; that is the contraint rather than just oversight.

Think you are better with a rental beach house or a condo at Turtle Bay than the small Laie Inn. Although convenient to the PCC it is outdated and lacking in amenities.

Try www.santasbythesea.com A great B & B just south of Sunset beach - right on the beach. I believe it is around $175.00 per night - You get an apartment not just a room underneath the main house.

We just returned from the north shore
and adored the Ke Iki Beach Bungalows.
We had the "hibiscus" and it was beyond our dreams. Check out their website @
keikibeachbungalows.com

Thanks for the tips. We found an condo near Kailua Beach. I'll let you know how it is when I return. By the way Duane, I liked the pixs of the place your ecommended. It's in my "favorites" to check out next time. We always go to Kauai when we go to Hawaii but are checking out the windward side of Oahu this time since it is for such a quick R & R Shar

Hi Shar I rented on lanikai two summers ago. Are you going with an agency or did you find your condo on your own?

Sarah Jan 9th, 2003 04:42 AM

PS I have a friend on the North Shore of Oahu who has stayed at those bungalows at Turtle Bay. They were filming a movie at her home. She is amaised at how little you get for the money at turtle bay. This was her reaction anyway when I showed her adverts from other islands. Still it is a nice area.

Sarah I booked a condo on my own through site I found on net. Hopefully it will be okay. It looks good.

I am sure they will be fine we were not happy with the agency we used

But if you did not use an agency then you don't run that risk
