Northern NJ to Myrtle Beach
Hi all,
Traveling in late August to Myrtle. We would love to take the Cape May ferry if it works. Thinking about leaving early morning (1 AM) on Saturday. My goal is to limit traffic as much as possible, and clearly stay clear of DC traffic! Suggestions? Thanks!!

The first ferry of the morning leaves at 6:30AM on weekends and 7:30 on weekdays. http://www.capemaylewesferry.com/Schedules-Fares
Do you have any interest in fishing from a head boat or charter?

Generally speaking you shouldn't have a lot of problems with congestion on the East side of 495 (the section that coincides with I-95) early on a Saturday. If there is going to be a congestion problem it will be on the segment between 495 and Va Rte 3 in Fredericksburg.
Yes there will be traffic but a reduced level early on a Saturday.
One other alternative might involve 301 south across the Potomac linking to Rte 17 and south through Norfolk, etc., and eventually back to 95.
But if you are leaving at 1-2 AM you should be at the Beltway by 6 and beyond that by 7 AM
