Northern MA to Harrisburg PA - what route to follow?

Trying to map out driving directions from Newburyport MA to Harrisburg PA. Maps.com is routing us through CT to RT95s through NYC and Philly onto RT78W. But it looks like you could take 84W to Scranton and then head south on 81(?) Would like to avoid NYC and 95 if possible. Anyone have any experience they wish to share?

I'd go I90 to I84 to I81. I've done it a couple times-pretty scenic and didnt encounter much traffic.

Yes, the 84W to 81S would be a much better option - lots prettier, too. Avoiding 95 is always a good idea!

I live in Boston, though I'm from the Harrisburg area, and drive back frequently. I generally go 90E to 84E (begins in Sturbridge and ends in Wilkes-Barre, PA) and then take 81S to Harrisburg. It's a very easy drive.
