Northampton MA area hotels?

Hi, Have to go to Northampton MA and from my research on travelocity and expedia, i find just a bunch of cheap chain hotels like clarion and motel 6's. suggestions for a more interesting, nice place to stay? willing to be about 10 miles from Smith College. thanks, karen

One of our daughters went to Mt. Holyoke and we always stayed at the Hotel Northampton when we visited her:

About 7 miles east, in Amherst, is the Lord Jeffrey Inn.

It's superb, but a little Amherst College centric, if that's an issue.

The Ivory Creek B&B in nearby Hadley might interest you.

In Northampton, The Autumn Inn on Route 9 not far from Smith. Hotel Northampton a good choice right in town. There is also a B&B called the Salt Box on Elm Street (also Rt 9 near Smith.) I know they do longer term but maybe overnights.

Good luck.

Hi and thanks for your recommendations.. The Hotel Northampton looks like it will be most convenient, so will try that. Does anyone know if the area is noisy at night (my son goes to bed at 8pm) and if so, where in the hotel I should request to be put to minimize noise? thanks, karen
