north shore or kailua
my husband, 3 year old son, and myself will be flying to oahu for four nights.
we love the idea of a small cottage or condo ($150 or less) on the beach. i am clueless as to the lay out of the land, and we will have a rental car. any tips? kailua has great warm waters...and north shore sounds laid back and seems to fit our beach lifestyle?? thanks in advance...christina |
chrisnu7: I am going to top a thread that mentions a paricular place to stay on the north shore. If you do a search for North shore Oahu you will find a lot to sift through.

You may want to pick up the book, Driving and Discovering Oahu. Someone here recommended it to me and it's been a great resource so far. There is much to be seen and explored on the island outside of Honolulu. The book may help you decide which coast would suit you best.
good luck and aloha! |
Aloha Chrisnu7,
What time of year will you be on O'ahu? We love the nshore, but remember winter months will also have very high surf... with a 3 year old, I would think that you'd like to be able to play in the ocean... summer months on the nshore will be very calm. We love Ke Iki Beach Bungalows, Sunset Beach - keikibeach.com Also agree with Bogart... must have Richard Sullivan's Driving & Discovering Hawaii, O'ahu... great info & pics. Happy planning... aloha! |
