North San Diego in May

How crowded should I expect to find the beaches in San Diego in May?? My wife now wants us to go and spend a few weeks on the beach there around the Carlsbad area next May.

I know in Florida the kids get out of school in early May, so "summer" starts early there. Not sure about Southern California.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The kids will still be in school. The weather at the beach in May can be iffy, there's a good possibility of overcast mornings, our "May gray". It probably won't rain, but it may not be really warm every day.

Barbara,

>>t probably won't rain, but it may not be really warm every day<<

Actually, we are thinking of moving out there permanently, so it may be "nice" to see San Diego in a normal situation.

Thanks.

crowds won't be bad in may. some days, it will be nice for sitting on the beach. some days you'll need a shirt on. definitly not swimming weather unless you have a wet suit on.

The beaches are pretty empty in May, but it is often overcast at the beach. San Diego gets almost no rainfall in general, but even less in the summer http://www.san-diego-hotels-resorts....go-weather.php.
