North Myrtle Beach - Your Opinon ??

What are your thoughts on North Myrtle Beach ? We are thinking about bringing our boat there. I heard that it can be pretty "red-neck" and crowded. Any thoughts ?

I've been there only once, so take this for what it's worth.

The real answer is "compared to what?" NMB is less crowded than MB, but still NMB is crowded in-season. And if your screename is any indication of your origin, think "Wildwood" but with more golf courses.

Sue, it depends upon when you are going and what you want to do. There are some biker weeks which I would avoid, but other than that, a lot of people like the North. ((b))

From what I remember about Myrtle Beach, the North End was much busier, noiser and crowded. We always stayed on the south end and loved Myrtle Beach.

We stay in an area that is between North Myrtle and Myrtle Beach. It is not "redneck" at all, and is a quiet area with nice beach. Here's the hotel we stay in to give you an idea of locale of the area. www.forestdunes.com

I stayed at the Avista in 2004 and loved it. North Myrtle Beach is the quiet part. The beach is spectacular

NMB is fine. Lots of shopping and restaurants but suprisingly little mini golf. If you go, go to restuarants.com and buy a gift certicate for the Original Benjamins. The gift cerficate is for $25 and you pay $10.

We go after Labor Day and it is not crowded.
