North Fork, Long Island -- restaurant recommendations
Hello!
We are looking for a lunch recommendation for this Saturday in the North Fork Area. We like seafood and it needs to be inexpensive (or at least reasonable.) Nothing fancy -- just good food! Thanks! Cindy |
Claudio's Restaurant
Suggest because of harbor view, low price$): Claudio's 111 Main Street Greenport, New York 11944-1494 ph: 516.477.0627? maybe 631.477.0627 Other choices, nearby :S- |
Hey JohnD,
You had posted on my Hawaii thread and now I see you posting on North Fork threads - are you from the NF? CindyRob, Where on the North Fork? Claudio's has a great view and pretty good food. The Soundview is good and not too pricey for lunch. I also like Bay & Main but it isn't on the water. If you are going to be farther in, Legends in New Suffolk, and across the street I think the restaurant is now called Cafe St. Trop - it used to be the Galley Ho and it has a really nice view. In Cutchogue, Fisherman's Rest has reopened and is right on the Main Road. It isn't on the water but very convenient if you are wine tasting in the area, it's open for lunch and has good seafood. Very close to Gristina/Galluccio, Pugliese, Pellegrini, etc. Alex |

Thanks for your interest, I'm not "from" the North Fork, but previously have resided on the No'Sho', by the way for some reason I was thinking you're from the Midwest or Chicago((?)) Thanks also for your listing of North Fork info, I might happen upon some of those establisments myself.:S-</font></font></font></font></font></font> |
The Seafood Barge in Southold. Way before Greenport which is where Claudio's is. |
I grew up on the North Fork of LI. I moved to Chicago six years ago. My parents just moved off the North Fork this Spring.
I haven't been to the Seafood Barge in years - it used to be Armando's Seafood Barge. I worked at The Original Barge which was/is pretty much right next door to The Seafood Barge. I think it is called The Old Barge or something now. A little farther East on the other side of the road is Hollister's which I used to love. And the Sea Shell is right across from The Seafood Barge. A really good restaurant in Jamesport is the Jamesport Country Kitchen. It is close to Jamesport Vineyards and Paumanok (which I really like) and not that far from Palmer, Martha Clara and Macari (which I also really like). Jamesport Country Kitchen is on right side of the Main Road as you head East. |
Another recommendation for the Jamesport Country Kitchen. But make sure you call ahead, it's small and fills quickly.

There is also Cliff's Elbow Room in Jamesport - great Steaks:)
