North FL/South GA coast vacation?
My husband and I are planning an anniversary trip in late August/early Sept. We are looking at either the Cloister at Sea Island, the Lodge on Little St. Simons Island, or the Ritz Carleton on Amelia Island. We live in NE Florida so these are all in our area. We plan on going for 3 nights. Can anyone who's been to any of these places please give me some info? We are young (20's) and looking for a romantic place. We don't need a place with a lot of nightlife. Thanks!

I've never been to the Lodge.

Between the Cloister and the Ritz, I'd pick the Ritz. To me the beach is nicer than on Sea Island. The Ritz, to me, is more romantic and has a European feel. The Cloister is too dated.

Plus, the Cloister is a little too, I doubt know, . . . snobby and too golfy. (This is just my personal opinion. It is a very nice place.)

I also prefer the restaurant at the Ritz over the (main) one at the Cloister.

Also, at Amelia you have more to do - stroll along the beach of course, but there's horse back riding, visiting Ft Clinch, visiting Kingsley Plantation, strolling the streets of Fernadina, etc.

Sorry, I couldn't find this post last night so I posted it again. I'm new to these boards, so I apologize for the double post! I appreciate any responses.
Thank you!

We stayed at one of the islands off the coast of Georgia, maybe St. Simon or Jekyll, and that was okay, but we also stayed at the Ritz on Ameila Island and that was really nice. There are also condos you can rent at the Ritz but I can't recall what they're called. I think you might enjoy the restaurants at Fernandina more than what's available at the Georgia islands but it was a short trip in Georgia (one day) and I really can't recall it well.

Mag...posts sink in the thread as the day goes on. You sometimes have to hunt in the next 50, or 50 after that to find it again.

I am familiar with the Cloister, but haven't stayed there. Have stayed at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia and loved it. That would be my first choice certainly. It's a beautiful hotel, friendly service, the beach is much nicer, and the town of Fernandina offers plenty of dining opportunities (though the Ritz has a great dining room). Of course, with you living in JAX, it's not really getting away...perhaps the only drawback for you.
