North Conway NH - Anything but shopping?
Will be staying in North Conway NH in early January 2001, Family want to ski and shop, but I am interested in other activities available in this region. We are staying in North Conway due to cost and I have been told that there is not much to do apart from shopping and skiing. Will have use of a car and am willing to travel to other areas (But not too far)
Suggestions please.
Thank you in advance

skiing, shopping, then skiing and shopping, after that skiing and shopping again and again. Skiing here is fantastic and after spending all day on the slopes you won't think about other activities especially about driving on those narrow mountain roads. So once again my answer is: skiing and shopping

You will be in the heart of some of the best hiking terrain in the Northeast. Buy one of the White Mountains hiking maps at one of the local stores - well worth the $4. There are trails for all levels of ability, many with spectacular views. Of course there are the more structured activities like visiting the Flume, Lost River, Mt. Washington train, etc, etc. If you drive around the beautiful back roads, there is a good chance you will spot a moose or two, especially on the Kancamangus!

Oops! Didn't realize you were going in the winter! Why not try cross country skiing! It's not very difficult, and lots of fun.

Maybe Julie is really going January 2002, otherwise she's already been and doesn't need your advise anymore.

Julie, I don't know what else you are looking for. North Conway in the winter is a ski town. ONly other activity besides shopping would be eating.
Try Moat Mountain Smokehouse & Brew Pub for good food and homebrew.

The Bernerhof Inn in Glen(which isn't too far a drive if I remember correctly) has a cooking school. I've never been and I don't know if you have to be a guest or not to attend. But if you're interested it might be worth looking into.
