I meant to add this--posted by mistake.
I hope you find exactly what you want. This is an absolutely beautiful part of the country with a very high quality of living conditions. Among those are good people relations.

I don’t think you know how old I am, but I am far from being young. One issue that neither my family nor me have, is racial issues. It is too much segregation in my family, with so many different races, for race to be an issue. It sounds like I may have hit a nerve, so I’m really not going to take any offense to your comments. I will end this by saying, thanks for your comments, there well noted.

"It is too much segregation in my family, with so many different races, for race to be an issue

What?

Is that what you meant to say?

GoTravel Nov 30th, 2006 06:55 AM

I think Tory is confused on the meaning of segregation.

starrsville Nov 30th, 2006 07:03 AM

Evidently so.

G - My kids go to Imaginon all the time + we are members @ Discovery Place. A little more difficult snce we've moved to Matthews since we were in Elizabeth prior, but we still get Uptown frequently.

I think that torynsyn2 meant "integration."
Gretchen, you are very defensive person.

GoTravel Dec 1st, 2006 06:32 AM

Gretchen plays defense for the Carolina Panthers.

So in real life Gretchen is Julius Peppers?

Gretchen Dec 4th, 2006 04:14 AM

He better be ON his game tonight. Actually DEfense is not the problem--OFFense is!!!
I am a "defensive person" when it comes to calling the South a place where all races are not welcome because of what happened LONG ago. And particularly from anyone who is viewing it long range with no information.
In my estimation, the Charlotte community has worked to make good race relations a priority and as a president of a well known service organization I worked hard on that.
No nerve struck--Tory is the one that keeps it at the top of her list. Not sure what her age has to do with it. But if she is looking at school districts, I am pretty sure she is younger than I--not that it makes a hill of beans difference.
So, I will say that Charlotte is a VERY diverse community with many nationalities, races and opportunities for all willing to work for them.
Personally I think the possibility of being in a MORE diverse community is greater in Charlotte than in the Mooresville/Statesville area.
As I said, I wish her well in her quest.
