Reading re the Northern Parks?
I'm going to be hiking in Glacier, Yellowstone and Grant Tetons National Parks, in August/September. Wonder if there are any good books - fiction (historical fiction?) or non-fiction - anyone would recommend related to those areas?

Oh yes. There will be four of us. We are doing all day trip hikes.
And my Canadian neighbor has kindly lent me a book entitled: Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance".
My main concern is the two days that I will be in charge of the rental car, from Jackson Hole to Teton Village and back - on the 'wrong side' of the road!

Not sure if this should rate as a 'trip report' - just wanted to say I'm right into these books now and fully engaged with thoughts of bear attacks, falling into an acidic Yellowstone hot spring, or being obliterated in a Yellowstone eruption! Brilliant. But all great reads, also recent news reports of people doing silly things with bears, and with walking off boardwalks, are so much more pertinent now. Thanks for your suggestions! (I think?)

Back now from my trip and want to say thanks heaps for your reading suggestions. Am totally hooked on the whole CJ Box series and it was great to be in the Grand Tetons looking out to Joe Pickett's Big Horns, and watching his beloved pronghorn antelope. Also feel like re-reading Blood Lure and The Naturalists, now that I can visualise those places.

How about a TR, capekidnappers. Would love to hear more about the trip.
We like to do some lighter reading set in the area we visit. Tony Hillerman for the southwest and Dana Stabeno (sp?)for southern Alaska come to mind.
