Nobu, Nobu Next Door or Tao?? Help...
Hi there,
I cant decide where to reserve... if anyone has eaten at any of these restaurants can you help me out?? Looking for great food and a fun atmosphere! Thanks! |
Or any other restaurant in New York City that is not to miss... thanks!

These are apples and oranges--Tao has over the top decor and is very large, while Nobu has modest decor, and Nobu Next Door is cafe-like. My personal feeling is that the food at Nobu is more serious, and higher quality, than Tao, but Tao is more of an entertainment experience, more of the "fun atmosphere" you're looking for. Have you looked at the menus online?

Hi NewbE,
Thanks for the reply. I have looked at the menus.. gosh it's just so darn hard to choose. I ate at Tao in Vegas and it was amamzing! When you are only on vacation for a few days you want to make sure you are dining at the best places. I wish someone could just choose for me. |
Your timing might be the deciding factor. Generally reservations at Nobu are hard to come by. NND is easier to get into. I personally have not been to Tao so I can't comment on the food.
If you do go to Nobu you'll want to get a sampling of appetizers like the Black Cod Miso. Those are truly my favorite part of the experience. |
We recently went to Tao in April and had a great dinner there. It is huge and lots of fun. The food was great. The bar scene is happening but did not visit since we had our 12, 10 year with us. Definitely visit!

Buddakan is another restaurant that you might want to consider if you're leaning towards Tao. It's newer, and there is a lot more in the way of bars and people watching in the neighborhood.
