NO KIDS--Where do we go?

We will take our first trip in March w/o children. Have no idea where to go or do, would like suggestions for some quiet out of the way place. This will be spring break time so we know beach areas are out!! We are looking for 2-3 days and drivable distance from central Arkansas. Thanks in advance.

My dh and I stayed at an adult all-inclusive in Playa del Carmen, Mexico last spring. PDC is about an hour south of Cancun. Most of the college kids stay in Cancun. Or you might try Akumal or somewhere else in Mexico. There are also a lot of condos in the area on vrbo.com if you want to go that route.

New Orelans would be my choice. It fits your driving criteria and has a lot of charm and a ton of great restaurants. And if you want to leave town for a day or part, then consider driving down along the river, to some of the old plantation homes. Good luck.

How about Memphis?

If 2-3 days is your limit I wouldn't try and drive more than 200 miles so you can have some time there to enjoy the locale and your honey.

Thanks we are thinking New Orleans. Have spent more than enough time in Memphis.

Hubby and I are leaving on Friday for a long weekend in the Big Easy. I'll tell you how it was next week!

Playa Del Carmen beaches are a favorite place of mine, too, but they sometimes get crowded with families during the March Spring Break time.

We did a "no kid" trip to NO and really enjoyed it. It was a treat to be able to window shop at leisure, stroll the town and choose a restaurant not based on whether or not it served hamburgers!

NO was the first place I thought of. My dh and I spent 3 great days there for our 15th anniversary. It was so wonderful - stayed out very very late, ate in great restaurants and drank ridiculous drinks and strolled down the street, went to the track, shopped in antiques stores (all things we could never do while with the kids). Can't wait to do it again.
