NO: Has anyone stayed at Iberville Suites, Windsor Court, or Fairmont recently?
Hi:
I feel silly posting this question about a New Orleans hotel as I live an hour away. I usually stay at the Sheraton on Canal during trips to the city. However, want something more upscale for this trip b/c my parents will be visiting (and footing the bill!).
The Windsor Court has a great rate ($180) through their website but I've read recent reviews from Fodorites saying that it looks tired and that the service has been spotty.
Likewise for Iberville Suites.
Has anyone stayed at the Fairmont in the past couple of months? It has some terrible reviews on Trip Advisor, which is sad b/c it looks beautiful during the Christmas season.
I'm sure that the Ritz would be great but I don't want to make my parents feel that they have to spend the $300/night.
Please provide some suggestions, or better yet, tell me that the Windsor Court is still wonderful!

I have stayed at several hotels in NO. I feel that Windsor Court is great. Much better than most. Our rooms have always been tasteful, and the service wonderful. I have only stayed at the Sheraton once, many years ago, so my impressions would not be current (chain hotel, nothing more, nothing less). Have never stayed at Iberville Suites.

Thanks babs. I was honestly surprised to hear the recent bad reviews of the Windsor Court. I know many people in Louisiana that consider it to be the best hotel in New Orleans.
The Sheraton has been renovated n recent years and the reason we stay there is b/c I can usually find a good rate and I like the location. It is a chain hotel, but I visit New Orleans a lot so I don't mind it that much (plus, the fact that I've been a impoverished law student for the past three years doesn't help w/my options!).

Another couple of suggestions. Omni Royal Orleans is nice, in FQ but not a noisy location. And across Canal from the Sheraton is the Marriott. We've stayed there a few times and have been satisfied. It's big plus is in not having to cross Canal. But not upscale in the same vein as the Windsor Court.

I've been reading favorable reviews of the International House. I went on their website and they seem to be an upscale boutique hotel. Anyone familiar with it?
Babs:
The rate for the Omni seems to be roughly equivalent to the Windsor Court. I've walked by the Omni many times and it looks nice, but I think that Windsor Court is superior, wouldn't you agree?

mah, just in case you decide to stay at WC, be sure to request an upper floor, water (river) view, when making your reservation. Sorry, I was going to add it to last post but forgot til it was sent.
