No Dinner Cruise (Oahu)
Everybody seems to agree that most of the dinner cruises aren't worth going to, how about a nice sunset cruise? Any suggestions? Just trying to find something romantic.

I live here and I have never gone on a sunset cruise. None of my friends have either. I think the reason is that there are many beaches and restaurants that you can go to and have a romantic sunset drink or dinner.
If you are in Waikiki check out the Halekulani. They have an open bar area that fronts the beach where you can listen to local music and watch the sunset in an upscale resort setting. |
I think the lunch ones are worth the money.

Check out Cabana dining at the Kahala Mandarin (spelling?) hotel. It's new.

What about the Don Ho Dinner Show? Have read great reviews. Any thoughts?

I like Dream Cruises
I take everyone that visits on a sunset cruise. I have been on almost all of the main boats and the one that I like is the American Dream owned by Dream Cruises in Honolulu. The boat is big enough to have a smooth ride but small enough to avoid the huge crowds and long lines. The food is good and everything is casual, they don't try to force you to do the Macarena or join a conga line. It's usually the most memorable part of the trip. |
You'll love Don Ho! Yes, it's a little campy but the show really gets you into the Hawaiian spirit. It was surprisingly enjoyable. When I saw the show a few years ago Mr. Ho joined the audience afterwards for picture taking and a little gab. Have fun travelers!

We took the sunset dinner cruise and it was great. I am not there for the food , but we all hope it is ok. It was a good high light to a great trip. nick
