No Air Conditioning in Seattle Hotel in late August??

The Moore Hotel has been recommended to me by a friend for my trip in late August, but I see on the website that the hotel does not have air conditioning. It looks like it's an old building and those seem to heat up and stay warm, so I'm wondering if I should look elsewhere. I can't sleep if it's hot. It's a good deal though, $74/night.

You'll be just fine w/no AC. Enjoy your trip.

i wouldn't risk it. right now it's 830 pm and still over 80 degrees here in seattle--summers have definitely gotten hotter here and 90 plus degree days not as unusual as they used to be.

of course if you'd been here a few days ago it was 50s and raining. but you just never know and if you are unable to sleep in hot conditions, i don't think it's worth the risk.

What is the price of the Moore Hotel? Almost certainly you can get a nice deal on a Seattle hotel on Priceline or Hotwire, and it will be an air-conditioned hotel. See www.betterbidding.com .

This is the first day this "summer" that has been over 80. It rarely gets over 90. You won't need AC. I agree with WillTravel, there should be better deals out there.

I would pass on any hotel without a/c in the USA. I have been told too many times that you don't need a/c as there is a sea breeze, etc. and I have been burned too often.

the op posted the price, $74.

statistics are great but knowing that it's rare won't help the op sleep if she happens to be here on one of the rare hot days. i wouldn't want to be trying to sleep at the moore tonight, that's for sure!

In Seattle in May a few years ago--90 for 3 days...I thought I would die !!!!
The Moore is a "reconditioned hostel type " hotel.. I would definitely try Priceline or Hotwire..
3 1/2 star hotel will keep you in a good area with A/C.

Count me in with the folks who say to skip the hotel without the a/c. At 7:30 a.m. today, the main level of my house was already 81 and I do not have (and desperately want) a/c. If you can't sleep when you're warm/hot, I would not take the chance despite the good rate.

ksucat Jul 8th, 2010 08:37 AM

No way would I take that chance!
You can get a similar rate on Priceline for a 3-4* hotel with A/C.
Check expedia.com too.

Thanks everybody, for the helpful feedback. I've always wanted to try priceline, so this is the perfect opportunity. I've never done it before because I didn't want to risk getting a room with only one bed when I was traveling with someone else, but this time, I'll be in a room by myself.
