NJ/CT Shore winter rentals
Can you recommend beach and shore areas in the NY metro that have some boardwalk activity during December? By active, I mean there are places to eat and might be interesting for teens. I might be persuaded to go as far as Newport or Cape Cod if the area is more active.
We want to get away for a week and I am having a hard time finding house rentals near the beach. I was wondering if I am just focusing on the wrong towns. Many thanks |
Don't know about rentals, although I'm sure you can get something, but the boardwalk at Point Pleasant Beach in NJ has a fair amount open even in the dead of winter. Not sure I've ever been in December, but October and November, and once on a warmish day in February. Don't expect rides, but at least a couple of the arcades are open, and there should be places to eat. What towns have you been looking at?

You might try vrbo.com or the NY Times-esp. the Sunday edition or even local papers for your chosen venues. Incidentally, how much are you looking to pay/wk?
|
I looked at Point Pleasant, Seaside Hts and Belmar. There are some VRBO openings, but no where near what I expected, so I am concerned it'll be completely deserted.
Thanks for the tips. |
Hi, pwpark
Cape May has lots open, if that is not too far for you. There are restaurants, a quaint by very small "boardwalk," and the Physic Estate to explore. There are also shops on the "mall," a lovely little shopping area and not too far from Cape May is Rio Grande which has lots of typical shopping. Cape May is absolutely beautiful when decorated for the holidays. |
