Nightlife In Wailea
 

I'm so glad I found this sight! You guys are a great help.

I still sot sure on staying at the Grand Wailea but I was wondering what the nightlife was like in Wailea. I have heard that there really was not much to do besides going to The Shops and having a nice dinner. Is that so? Am I better off in Kaanapali (sp?).

My wife and I are no longer the party animals we once were but we're not old timers either. The ideal place would be something that had some good drinks and a nice jazz band to mellow out with.

You are right. There is very little nightlife in Wailea. If nightlife is important to you, you are much better off in Kaanapali/Lahaina.
This will undoubtedly draw responses from all those who think the "nightlife" is just great in Wailea (until the unbelievably late hour of 8pm or 9pm). I guess that the term "nightlife" is relative (mainly to one's age). Whatever, it ain't in Wailea !!

We have found that nightlife in HI is pretty different from what we're accustomed to her on the mainland. I do so enjoy the nightlife swinging from one of the hammocks near the ocean at the Hyatt. View is unbeatable. ;)

There was enough to do for us when we atayed in Kaanapali. At a minimum walk along the beach walk after the torch lighting ceremony at the Sheraton and then drinks or dinner at a beachside restaurant like Hula Grill or Va Bene (at the Marriott) and back to the hotel is a very pleasant way to spend an evening. More action to be had in nearby Lahaina. A yummy dinner at Cafe O'Lei and then some evening shopping along front street.

Message: Yorman's by the Sea in north Kihei has jazz every night. Yorman has an impressive list if friends who at times are on hand. George Benson, who was at Yorman's grand openeing a few weeks ago, is openeing a jazz club at the Ritz, but I don't have a date on that. If Joe Cano is on the island you need to catch him. Alas, he lives in San Diego now. Mulligans on the Blue has eclectic music, Kea Lani has jazz in the lounge from 6 -9. I recentlyu posted a longer post with much more of the local music scene. I'll look for it and top it for you.

Thanks, Mary. Wailea is quiet, and pretty much limited to resort entertainment. But the lounges all do have something, every night of the week. Recently I have become enamored of the Maui Prince's Hawaiian entertainment. It's fun, it's cockatail entertainment!

Missing Wailea Nights at Mulligan's is madness. It turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Seeing the musical genius of Barry Flanagin and Eric Gilliom in such an intimate setting was wonderful. The food and the atmosphere/sunset view were great as well. Our ten year old daughter even loved it! - But then we turned her into a Hapa fan a long time ago.
