Yes, Bubba's in Hanalei has a WebTV unit and will provide email access. Dee: The aforementioned Happy Talk Lounge closes at 8, no ifs, ands or buts, and what drinks they have are extremely expensive.

Ter, We've been fortunate to see quite a few whales the past 3-4 trips over. We usually go over Nov/Jan months. One year we didn't even have to leave the barstool at the hotel! (And no, they weren't pink!). We could see them and dolphins romping off the east shore from our room. Awesome! The best was 2 yrs ago when were were staying in Poipu. We were at the beach next to the Sheraton and they came in so close you could see them smile at ya! We have also had the big ol' monk seals come on our beach for a day long snooze the past 2-3 trips. Pretty funny. Looked like me after Christmas dinner yesterday! Who needs nightlife when ya got "daylife"? Mahalo, Kal

Great research Kathy. Wish I had that list when we went in September. Personal experience with the places at the Hyatt-No action. May have been due to the lack of visitors post-9/11 but there was no music or dancers on the terrace and nothin goin in the library. The grounds are very pretty at night with the tiki torches and the pool lights. They have swings all around and the nights are warm with many stars in the sky. Makes it kind of hard to duck inside. Think "to-go" cups!! Also helps to be with the right person.

Kathy...Been there...done them....got the hangovers. Guess we'd need somebody's definition of "nightlife". I just like a bar or coffee place that stays open so you can hear yourself "talk story" over the crowd noise or music with Mrs Kal or some people you've just met from other parts of the country/world. 21 days till our 'quickie' Kauai trip to celebrate hubbie's 40th birthday under balmy skies. Hoping to spend it beachfront at the Beachhouse with a wicked maitai and a fancy waiter hovering. Bought tickets in response to 9/11 fears (as in, #@*#%!, can't take my favorite escape away!) and have since doubted my rash decision to dig into savings since we have another Hawaii trip in the works for 12/02. Reply's to Dee's concerns re: nightlife on Kauai just wiped away all of my doubts about this trip- can't wait to wander the Hyatt's tiki torch lit paths (so sorry Suzy that you missed the music at the Seaview Terrace at sunset- must have been due to drop in tourism during September) and take the long trek out to Polihale for some stargazing- what an otherworldly spot. Thanks for the reminder's of Kauai's incredible beauty. And just have to ask, where the heck is R'ville?

I can't promise the same if it comes to their ahi nachos appies! "R'ville" is our quaint, tiny little village in No Cal, outside of Sacramento in the beginning of the Sierra Nevada foothills. She lives on the good side of the tracks while I have to struggle on the mean streets of the westside. But it's closer to the airport! Kal 4 and forrrrre!
