NIGHT ON THE TOWN IN CHICAGO

I JUST PROMISED A CO-WORKER THAT SHE WILL GET
SOME GREAT SUGGESTIONS FROM THIS SITE FOR A
NIGHT ON THE TOWN FOR HER 9TH WEDDING ANNI-
VERSARY...WE JUST NEED TO ASK* SO DON'T LET
ME DOWN, FODORITES...I'M ALWAYS BROWSING THIS
SITE JUST FOR TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS AND YOU AL-WAYS HAVE GREAT IDEAS FOR HOTELS AND RESTAU-RANTS* P.S. SHE WILL ALREADY HAVE HAD DINNER BEFORE HEADING INTO CHICAGO, SO ONLY
ENTERTAINMENT AND DRINKS ARE WHAT SHE'S LOOK-
ING FOR* I'VE ALREADY SUGGESTED A CARRIAGE
RIDE OR A RESTAURANT ALONG NAVY PIER (RIVAS)*
DO YOU KNOW OF ANY OF THE BIGGER HOTELS THAT
MIGHT HAVE A SMALL JAZZ BAND? THANKS* RITA

Nice place for drinks are several of the luxury hotel bars. Personal favorites include:

- dessert and drinks at Nomi on their terrace (Park Hyatt)
- Le Bar in the new Sofitel
- The Bar at the Peninsula (very hip and great chocolate martinis)

Personally find Navy Pier too touristy and think it's nice to walk the Gold Coast or Michigan Avenue (prefer strolling to the carriages).

Go to the Signature Room at the Hancock for drinks.

Pop's for Champaine on N. Clark at Oakton.

Green Dolphin Street on Ashland and Webster.

Jazz Showcase at 59 W. Grand.

Joe's Be-bop on Navy Pier.

Because of the smell, I cannot recommend carriage rides...

HTH,
Tracy

For the best live music in Chicago, go to Buddy Guy's Legends.

I think Racy T means Pops for Champagne at Oakdale and Sheffield. It's most definitely not on Clark, and Oakton actually runs through some of the northern suburbs.

D'oh! I am having an off day with the directions... I was initially thinking Oakley, as that is near my home... but knew that was wrong...

The Clark/Sheffield thing I can't believe I missed, however! I admit that my primary focus wasn't here...

As one of the Ann Landers/Dear Abby crones would say (or would have said, now that Ann is departd) 50 lashes with a wet noodle.

But the place is great!

HTH,
Racy
