Night Mother

Has anyone seen this play. Will be in NYC 11/22-11/25 and would like to see some Theater. Can anyone recommend this or anything else. We have pretty eclectic tastes so are interested in different opinions.

No word on 'Night Mother, but the recently opened 12 Angry Men is definitely worth seeing. (Check the Playbill website for discount ticket offer.)
What else? Well, what have you seen?

I've seen most of the stuff that's been there awhile either in NY or Chicago. Haven't been to NY in about 18months so anything that's opened since then I'm open to.
Thanks for your help.

Night Mother is a powerful play. Two characters, but incredibly depressing. Basically it is a two hour emotion packed play about whether or not a woman is going to go into the next room and kill and herself. It is not everyone's "cup of tea", but with the right two women it can be wonderful. With Edie Falco and Brenda Blethyn it should be POWERFUL theatre. But don't expect to walk out humming.

Seeing Saturday night. Will report. Loved 12 Angry Men.

I would LOVE to see this play! Edie Falco is so good at whatever she does, as is Brenda Blethyn. I agree it is not a cheerful story but I am sure it will be fantastic theatre!
Please tell us about it/whatever you see when you get home?

Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek(sp?) were fantastic in the film.

Haven't seen the whole show but have seen some of the scenes done at drama festivals. Even with high school or college students performing, it is very emotional and depressing. Edie Falco and Brenda Blethyn should be very good.

I saw the movie starring Sissie Spacek (sp?) - very dark and depressing.

If you don't want "depressing" wait for the musical version, which will be called "Nighty-night, Mom". There will be a huge tap sequence in the second act and a chorus of nearly naked angels on stairways singing "Do it! Go ahead and do it!"

(Only kidding).

On a scale of one to 10: IMHO:

The Foreigner -- Heavy 9

12 Angry Men - Heavy 9

'Night, Mother - 6- to 6-1/2

Saw the play last week. It was excellent and is worth seeing. Blythen and Falco were terrific. The show is 90 minutes of non stop drama and there is no intermission.
