Nicest Resort in LongBoat key

WE are looking to go to Florida's west coast with our children for Easter.
What is the nicest/most upscale beachfront resort on Long Boat Key?
Thank you!

Long Boat Key Club has better rooms IMO than The Colony. The Colony has great tennis and restaurant. Beach is great at both. Both have lots of families. LMF

I've always enjoyed brunch at The Colony and the restaurant is great there, but I nearly get claustrophopia just driving through the complex. It is the most crowded bunch of buildings I think I've ever seen and I was amazed how expensive they are. Other than a handful facing out to the Gulf, most are seemingly inches away from each other facing porch to porch.

Long Boat Key Club is much more residential rather than motel like.

I've stayed at Long Boat Key Club twice. We had a huge two bedroom condo with two large lanais facing the gulf. There was a kitchen (fat chance I'd do anything with that when in Sarasota other than breakfast). It is a luxurious resort. The hotel rooms are owned by individuals and placed in a daily rental program as is so common on Sanibel and Captiva. The bartenders at the beach are wonderful and you and your children will be cared for in high style.

If you are a tennis or wine fiend then I'd go for the Colony but I do understand what Patrick said about the units being crowded. Very expensive waterfront real estate...caveat: most of the Colony units are not on the water. LMF

Go with the 2 BR gulf front @ The Resort at Longboat Key Club. The condo we had was a huge split-wing. Very nicely furnished. Book it right now b/c Easter will be close to sold out if not sold out.
