Nice restaurants in Georgetown?

My daughter is starting at Georgetown and we are going to be meeting up with some relatives who live in the Baltimore/D.C area. I am looking for a nice restaurant in the Georgetown area - good food, ambiance, but not outrageously expensive. Any thoughts?

Depends on what kind of food you like, but some that I like:

Cafe Divan - Middle Eastern, cool decor, good kebobs.

Chef Geoff's is kind of expensive but very nice and very good food.

Mie N Yu is kind of modern Asian will a very interesting ambiance.

Check www.washingtonian for write-ups of these. Also, the Washington Post online has restaurant reviews.

Hope this helps a little.

That "will" after Mie N Yu is supposed to be "with", obviously. :)

these are good suggestions. mie n yu can be a little pricey though. i love chef geoff's- it's not in georgetown, though!
definitely check out the Post's reviews. they are usually pretty good. j.paul's and clyde's are decent for your standard, mid-priced american food. mendocino grille is good though i haven't been there in a while- seem to recall it being rather pricey. aditi is pretty good, affordable Indian food. bangkok bistro is close to campus, affordable, reliable thai. next to bangkok is peacock cafe- cute, contemporary food with a great juice bar. both of these are on prospect st. martin's tavern is good, fits most budgets and would be a good choice if you're looking for a slightly upscale tavern-like atmosphere. avoid twist, fino, and most other restaurants on M st that have people outside trying to lure you in.

Easy answer for me: Mendicino Wine Bar and Grill. Lovely, great fresh food, incredible wine list, comfortable, good service, not too pricey, but you must reserve ahead. On M St. I believe they have a website. Chef Geoff's is downtown, not in Georgetwon.

There are two Chef Geoff's -- one downtown and one on the upper end of Nebraska. One poster is correct as it is up in near American University and would be considered part of Spring Valley though I could see the confusion.

Second Mendincio.

Could try Old Glory over Clydes and J Pauls.

Filomena's on Wisconsin Ave has amazing fresh pasta and wonderful seafood and also meat dishes.

I've heard from a number of people that Neyla (Mediterranean) is very good. It's on N and Wisconsin. They apparently have a nice outdoor area.
