Nice hotel close to 415 W. 13th St. NYC

Can anyone tell me of nice hotels close to 415 W. 13 St. in NYC, please. I don't have a clue as to where that is, but someone mentioned it is near????? Union Sq. I also don't know where that is. The only areas I know are those that are around The Plaza & Central Park and the Empire State Bldg. on 5th Ave.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on your bank account, the Hotel Gansevoort is THE cool place to stay

Check out the reviews on www.tripadvisor.com

If I remember correctly, an episode of Sex in the City was filmed at the rooftop pool of the Hotel Gansevoort

The Gansevoort is indeed right there. What's your budget an definition of "nice?" The W Union Square wouldn't be far and is very nice (but pricey).

For a smaller budget, the West 11th st Townhouse and another b & b that lists under "Rooms to Let" are also close.

I believe the Sex & the City episode was filmed at Soho House, which is also in the Meatpacking District. The Gansevoort Pool was not yet open at that time. Soho House also has rooms for rent, but the members of the Soho House do have priority for room rentals.

There is another "cool" hotel called the Maritime Hotel which is located on the corner of 16th Street and 9th Avenue.

Sad but true: I stayed at Hotel Gansevoort last year on business, and it was way too cool for me. SO cool that for the 1st time I realized I no longer am.

Washington Square Hotel - been around a long time. Used to be seedy, but has been renovated. Prices still moderate.

And, this website ought to help you get your bearings: http://www.nycvisit.com/home/index.cfm

G'luck!

Thank you all for your help. I would like the W, but at $500 (not including taxes, etc.)I'm not so sure. If it were for just 1 night I could handle it :-(, but for 4 nights???????

Thanks again.

The popular rooftop bar at the Gansevoort overlooks the pool at the SoHo House, where a scene for Sex & the City was filmed. (Samantha uses an English woman's membership card to gain entry, gets busted, hilarity ensues.)

I find maps.google.com helpful for searches such as this one. Type in the address, click. Then click "search for business." Then enter the type of business (e.g. "hotel") and click. A list will appear.
