Nice family hotel Maui

I am planning a trip with my family to Maui in late June. We are looking for a nice family resort with a nice beach, also nice pool! The age range of the kids are 15-3.
Thanks

The Grand Wailea has the best pool system on Maui, but it's pricey. Some people love the Hyatt on Kanaapali. Has a nice pool, beach is OK. Personally, I think the Maui Prince has the best beach, although the pool is just nothing.

What is your price range and do would you consider condo or do you only want a resort?

We would consider a condo depending on the pool and beach? I understand that the Grand Wailea has a nice pool, but no beach! What do you know of the Fairmont Resort? Would that be family friendly?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Grand Wailea sit right on Wailea Beach, one of the nicest in the area?

I think Bill is correct. If I had a big family and bucks, I would stay at a condo/ villa property in Wailea. Check out Wailea Grand Champions, or maybe someone else has a suggestion.

The Wailea beach is fantastic, and the pools are second to none. The Westin has a nice pool complex too, and should be a little cheaper. I don't know of any condo places with pools that compare to the big hotels.

Makena Surf looks good also:

Not sure about that?

Not sure about what?

CandaceJ Feb 1st, 2007 03:52 PM

I was not sure about the beach being good or not?

Ag3046 is right, the Grand Wailea has an incredible pool system. Full with water elevator, tarzan swing, numerous fancy slides, water bar, and long "rivers". Amazing for kids and famiies! But, puts a hole in the wallet for sure. Most locals do not stay there unless they have connections.

If you're looking for a hotel that is familiy oriented, reputable, nice pools, and great access to the beach, I would stay in Kaanapali in Lahaina on the west side (Grand Wailea is on the east side). The Sheraton has a pretty nice pool system with a few slides and a "river" as well. Mostly, it's beach access can't be beat. To beautiful waters where some snorkel, kayak and jump off of "Black Rock". View of the other islands in the background.

Sheraton should be cheaper than the Westin, Hyatt, Hilton and definitely cheaper than the Grand.

The beach at the Grand Wailea is very nice. Check the guidebooks, they all rave about this hotel's beach.

Wailea is actually considered south Maui, not east Maui. Hana is considered east.

Agree with iamq, if you're looking for the ultimate in pools set in lush((F)) grounds and one of the best golden sand beaches on Maui go with Grand Wailea :S-. Sheraton in Kaanapali also has great beach, and decent pool for less $-).

Candace- How many children are in your family? If more thean 2, a Condo seems more comfortable. for you.

Grand Wailea definitely has the best pool for all kids of all ages. Trust me, with a pool that fantastic, no one will care about the beach. In one area of the pool there is a wading section with a sandy bottom which is made to give the effect of being at the beach. Great for toddlers.

Ka`anapali is not in Lahaina.

The Wailea beaches are sensational. Grand Champions, a very nice condo complex in Wailea, is not on the beach, though it has water views.

The southern tip of Lana`i, Kahoolawe (islands) and Molokini (a volcano rim) are visible from Wailea.

Why all the ?s ending sentences that are not questions?

Have a great trip.

Kids? No way would I pack into a hotel, unless I could afford a large suite. Go with a condo: lots in Wailea, Kihei. Lots of threads recommending specific places, too. Type a search for Kamaole Beach Parks, Wailea, etc., or go to www.VRBO.
