Niagra Falls Bed and Breakfast
Has anyone had an experience with a Bed and Breakfast in Niagra Falls US side.
What would you recommend. We will be going the first week in October celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Any help would be appreciated. |
Much of what you will want to see - including the front of the falls - are on the Canadian side - as aer most of the better places to stay. If you're not going there I wouldn;t bother.

I have only been in the area for a little while, but I would concur. Everyone I've met on the U.S. side tells people to go to the Canadian side.
I haven't seen it myself, but I'd look into Niagara-on-the-Lake as a possible B&B site. It is supposed to be quite picturesque and nice for walking around. It's also in the middle of wine country if you are into that. It is not far from the Falls (half hour or less), and the Falls is a pretty busy touristy (tacky) place. |
I agree with the previous poster, stay in Niagara on the Lake and visit the Falls from there. I would not stay on the American side of the Falls. The city is very run down and many parts of it are not safe. I have never stayed at any of the bed and breakfasts, but there are quite a few in Niagara on the Lake.

Niagara Falls, NY is completely run down and is to be avoided, especially as an anniversary destination! If you want to stay in Niagara Fall, Ont., consider the Sterling Inn (http://www.sterlingniagara.com/) which is in walking distance of all the major attractions. We stayed there two years ago and loved it - very sophisticated and friendly. The Falls area is a combination of old-style kitsch and new attractions, including a huge casino complex. The Falls themselves are worth the trip - it might be cliche, but the ride on Maid of the Mist is pretty awesome!

We love the Falls but would never stay on the U.S. side. Goat Island on the US side is great! Go to Cave of the Winds on Goat Island. Take a walk and get up close and personal to the water, you can do Maid of the Mist from Goat Island but there are no hotels or B&B's there. Stay on the Canadian Side, you can also do Maid of the Mist on the Canadian side. Embassy Suites and Marriot both have great Fallsview rooms where you can view the Falls lighted at night. We like to take a day and drive to Niagara on the Lake, visit some wineries, walk the little town, have lunch but come back to the Falls to stay. The Keg in the Embassy Suites have beautiful water views and good food.

Thank you for the info. I guess we will not be going to the Falls.

Go 20 mins north to Niagara-on-the-Lake, find a b&b there, and try the Whirlpool Jet Boat ride there... it's awesome! You're issued gear and they tell you you'll get wet, but they don't tell you you'll need to change everything down to your undies cuz you get soaked! But it's well worth it.

Is needing a passport stopping you from going to Niagara Falls? It is good for ten years so it is a good investment really.
