Niagra Falls

My friends and I are takinga road trip adn one of the places that we are heading is to Niagra Falls from Montreal. Does anyone have any suggestions of where me might stay close by before we go to the falls the next day. We were thinking possibly Toronto.

Toronto is about a 90 minute drive from Niagara Falls. For hotel recommendations in TO try posting on the Canadian Forum. As a tip those hotels near the airport will be about 20 minutes closer than any hotel in downtown. There are tons of hotels in NF on the Canadian side that would be far more convenient than TO. Also Niagara on the Lake is a lovely small town with inns and B&Bs that is about 20 minutes from the Falls. Don't stay on the American side - the Canadian side is much more attractive and has a greater selection of hotels.

Toronto is about 1&1/2 hours from Niagara Falls, but it is a great city. It has a different feel than Montreal (less French influence). Sorry, I don't have any accomodation recommendations because I only day-trip it from Buffalo. I like to walk & shop a little on Queen St W. (a little funky/artsy) and then head over to Spadina for Chinese food.
Have fun!

I second the Niagara -on-the-Lake idea. There are a lot of reasonably priced B&Bs. Hotels seemed expensive. I took a jet boat ride up the Niagara Rapids from NOTL in May 1998, and boy, was that fun. I also took in a couple of plays at the Shaw Festival there. I didn't like Toronto much.

Hi Alexandria,

I found a great place to stay in Niagra Falls, Canada at (of all places) the Days Inn. There are two, maybe three Days Inn there. I stayed in a newer highrise that they own. It was great as it was a quick walk to a beautiful park and the Falls. It is also located next to a high-rise Ramada. I went through that hotel and checked it out. It looked nice too. I wish I remembered the road/address for you, but I believe it was across the street form a water pumping station (a rather historic building).

Happy Trails,
Paul

PS - It was driving me nuts - I had to go look it up... The 'old' Days Inn is now, "Imperial Hotel & Suites By The Falls." It is a 3-star hotel (not fancy - yet clean and comfy) and rooms go for less than $50/night.

The web address is:
http://www.hotellocators.com/reserva...umpep=1&numch=
