Niagara Falls--New York side

I am interested in visiting the New York side of Niagara Falls---how is it in comparison to the Canadian side? What hotel is close to the falls and nice?

the best hotel near the falls on the US side is part of the Seneca Niagara Casino... lots of room specials, restaurants, entertainment, gambling, spa, and a pretty good buffet... its two blocks from the falls...

Theres also a Crowne Plaza across the street from the casino hotel, but nowhere near as nice...

to finish your answer... the NY side of the Falls features much more of the nature involving the Falls... Goat Island State Park is beautiful and allows you to get amazingly close to the edge of the Falls... Cave of the Winds is one of the best attractions at the Falls... You can ride the Maid of the Mist, visit the observation tower, hike down to the Rapids, ride the Whirlpool JetBoats, Many will tell you that the best View of Niagara is from Canada, and if you are able to cross the US/ Canada Border, you should do so... you can walk across the Rainbow Bridge, drive or go on a tour...

Crowne Plaza is pretty nice. It has recently completed renovations. Garyt22 is right that Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel is nicer but it will also be significantly more expensive than the Crowne Plaza.

In New York you are on top of the Falls. On the Candaian side you are facing the front of the Falls and the views are much prettier/more dramatic. I wouldn;t bother to go without seeing the Fals from both sides - you would be missin gso much -including the chance to visit Niagara onthe Lake.
