Niagara Falls in May or Sept.?
Are the falls equally beautiful in May and September? We want to see NYC also. Please let us know your preferences. My husband is voting for September, hoping for fall colors. Please help us decide!

September is a little early for leaf peeping there - I think you would be better in early October - but naturally the date is different every year based on the weather. (Leaves near NYC don;t turn til late Oct or even Nov in the city itself so the southern half of your drive would still be mostly green - assume you're driving.)
I would go for May - since the flowers will be better - and the days longer so you can enjoy more outdoor stuff. Also - if you mean this year - for May you're very late to get a hotel in NYC. And even for Sept you should be trying now to get decent rates. |
both times are about the same. SPring flowers will be blooming in May, by September, flowers will be declining and it's too early for changing leaves (unless you're talking the very end of September. Either way, you should miss the summer crowds. However, note that Mon, May 22 is a holiday in Canada and Mon, May 29 is Memorial Day in the States and those weekends will create more crowds in the Falls.

if you go to the falls, you MUST go to Canadian side- you will think you are on another planet from the US side

September is more predictably lovely.
