niagara falls

We are planning on travelling for a day to Niagara Falls. Anyone have a suggestion on best things to do, good place to stay. I was told to stay on Canada side as was less expensive.

we always stay at Michael's Inn at

www.michaelsinn.com

we love it there and it's easy walking to the Casino, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood and the main street. we always do the dinner plan - good prime rib!

Take a ride on the Maid of the Mist. I always liked to go through the "tunnels" (not sure what they are really called) where you can stand behind the falls. Those were my favorites memories when I was a child and I still enjoyed them when we went with our kids many years later.

I don;t know about the prices - although the US$ is still much stronger - but most of the things you will watn tosee are on the Canadian side.

Just be sure you all have your papers in order before crossing the border.

We stay on the Canadian side when we go. We rode the Maid of the Mist, ate in the revolving restaurant (Skylon?) has a beautiful view. There is an Imax theater near there that we saw a movie. And went through the tunnels behind the falls.

We also rode the spanish aero car, and walked down in an area where you walk along the river on these "decks" right next to the river. My husband thinks that was on the American side.

We also ate lunch at the Rainforest cafe (which is okay for kids) And Planet Hollywood.

We have gone to the butterfly conservatory that they have there. That was neat.

I have found that the Canadian side is less expensive, and nicer.

We have been there twice. The first time in 1990. The second time in 2002.
We hardly recognized it the second time.
It was so touristy. So many more things to do now. They also have casinos.

You did not say if you have children.

I am sorry but I cannot remember the hotels we stayed in.

There are some nice parks around there also. We had a nice time both times we went. On the last day on the way home we walked all around the park on the American side of the falls. That was really pretty. We could not spend a lot of time there though. My best friend ended up with a really high fever and we had to get her home. I do not remember specifically what the park was called. Only that it was on the American side and lovely to walk through.

I am sure that they have a web site on all the attractions in the area.

Have a nice time.

Check out the White Water walk in the gorge on the Canadian side. You can walk along the lower rapids - the strongest in the world!

On the American side you can walk along the upper rapids. Then you walk across the bridge to Goat Island and check out the many vantage points there.
