Newport R.I. Restaurants Dress Code

Are jackets necessary for men and how casual are most of the restaurants?

Most of the restaurants are pretty casual. The only place my hubby dresses up is Castle Hill Inn. If it's during the summer, things are very casual.

Just got back from Newport. Thanks to Pam and Emily we ate at some of the best restaurants I think. Castle Hill Inn-Excellent, but pricey and more dressy. My husband did not wear a suit jacket, but he wore dress pants and a dress shirt. Great place for a special occassion. Scales and Shells was also excellent, but very, very casual.

We had a wonderful meal at Puerini's, 24 Memorial Blvd. (401-847-5506) Very good Italian food, casual atmosphere (you don't need a jacket/tie)
