Newport Hotels
Any suggestions for a couples weekend getaway in Newport RI?
|
What time of year?
Moderate: Try Hotwire....the 4* is the Hyatt on Goat Island usually can be found regularly during the winter for under $100. Mariott...within walking distance to all of the downtown area. Viking Hotel...located up the Hill from downtown, but still walking distance...currently parts of the Hotel are under renovations... Luxory: Inn at Castle Hill...you would need a car though or be willing to spend money on cabs because it is located outside the downtown area quite a a bit. Hotel Chanler...slightly out of town (not as far out as Castle Hill) but very luxorious and expensive. B&B's / Inns Too many to list...see www.gonewport.com for details. |
I stayed at the Almondy this past August and it was beautiful, breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect. I've stayed in a lot of different places in Newport and I really prefer the whole B & B thing, but we're usually with the kids and that just doesn't work out. Forgot to mention that I've also stayed at the Inn at Castle Hill...it's lovely, but it's a little out of town. I've seen some deals on www.luxurylink.com for the Chanler...that is very elegant and is at the beginning of the Cliff Walk.

My wife & I go to the Francis Malbone House every Jan/Feb for a post-holiday rest. It is one of the best, if not the best, B&B in Newport, within walking distance to the shops & most restaurants. Most of the 17 rooms have either traditional or gas fireplaces. About half of the rooms have double jacuzzis. The common areas have fireplaces. The afternoon tea is outstanding. The staff is pleasant and friendly.
