Newcomers to Disney World
 

My boyfriend and I are in our twenties and will be in Orlando for other business. We both want to plan a vacation while down there to see Disney World. We'd like to stay at a Disney resort, yet still be able to get the best deal possible as far as money is concerned. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Disney Resorts are typically not giving anything away. If getting a really low price for accomodations is vital stay outside the Disney Resorts. Also, for a young couple without children I do not reco the lower priced Disney property - they are basically aimed at children and are packed with them.

I highly recommend staying at one of the Disney resorts. Is it's in your budget try one of the midlevel, especially Coronado Springs or French Quarter. Thery have deals on their website through the end of July right now. My husband and I (early 30s) have been there quite a few times (we have no kids yet) and love it. Great restaurants, Pleasure Island, the Boardwalk, etc.

If either of you are a gov. employee, teacher or nurse, the Swan and Dolphin hotels offer great discounts for those employees. The S/D just underwent major renovation with all new bedding (heavenly beds) and while not disney-owned are on disney property and located in the Epcot/MGM area. They are deluxe hotels and a great value. I believe the teacher rate is $139/n which is about the same as a disney moderate. Happy planning.

evarei01: Since you travel for business, are you perhaps a Starwood member? Because the Swan and Dolphin are both Starwood properties. We stayed there once on points. Great stay; they are connected by a boat ride to Epcot, our favorite park.

My husband and I went to WDW on our honeymoons (when about the same age) and stayed at the Caribbean Resort. We told the reservation rep that we were on our honeymoon and they placed us in a room away from families (I believe this is standard practice in a WDW resort, you just have to ask) and were very happy with it. It's a less expensive resort and not as popular to families as other budget locations. The resort is broken up into mini villages, each one decorated in a different theme and named a different island. If you don't mind spending just a little more, I recommend staying in WDW resorts. You can enter the parks earlier, make reservations at restaurants earlier, and a huge bonus: have free shuttle service to, from and between parks. The service is terrific. Anytime you purchase an item at a park, you can ask that it be sent to your room and amazingly, it will be there when you returned. My husband (being less mature at the time) even asked to have a CD sent back to our room just to test it out and was so happy to see that they delivered it successfully. We have also stayed at Ramada Maingate (for only $39 a night)twice when budget was more of an issue and were very happy with it as well. Only down side is that the shuttle services outside of the park are not as good.
