newark to jfk

Short of using a taxi, what is the most convenient way to go from northern New Jersey (e.g., Newark Airport) to JFK? Thanks.

Airporter is the only one that lists direct to JFK - but call and find out arrangements for the number of people and the time that you have.

Do not do any transfer in Manhattan or it could easily take you 4 hours transit time from one airport to another. (Not from flight to flight - but actually on the road. From wheels down at EWR to take off at JFK - including picking up luggage at one end and security at the other - could take 6/7 hours with traffic.)

And if you go to the Newark website under ground transportation it will list other car services you may want to check - again depending on how many people/how much time you have.

why not train into Penn Station, then connect to LIRR to JFK?

Sorry - when I read this I had just finished helping friends get from EWR to the city - I read this post WAY to fast and gave the OP instruction into NYC only.

Have you looked on the website for the aiport under ground transporation etc?

As far as the train option is concerned just realize that it requires you to take the EWR AirTrain to the New Jersey Transit train startion. There you pick up the train into Penn Station (New York City). There you can change to the Long Island RR, which you take to Jamaica. At Jamaica you can pick up the JFK Air Train to the airport.

If you have very little luggage and don't mind dragging it long distances, up and down stairs and passageways this will work fine. If you have substantial luggage this option will be difficult.

That's a good perspective, nytravler

Thanks for all of the help!

There are airport buses that go to Newark, JFK, and LGA. They run out of Port Authority. So you can go from EWR to PA then to JFK. That is the cheapest way - might be the easiest too - but not the fastest. Train will be faster.
