Newark Airport parking options

I'm flying out of Newark later this year and looking at my options. The cheapest parking is $8 (ABC Parking) off site. $8 sounds great compared to $15 airport parking! Anyone use ABC?? Any good hotels that will offer up to 15 days of parking with a night stay?? Train or airport shuttle from Wilmington would be too expensive.

Might be cheaper to rent a car in Wilmington and drop it off at EWR.

Various reviews for ABC indicate that your car might be at risk and might be used for joy rides.

Fifteen days of free parking is a lot for a one-night stay at a hotel. However, you can check out what offers are available by doing an Internet search for the phrase

park fly newark

Note however, that you'll still pay the cost of a night's stay, which will probably be more than $120. Unless you're leaving first thing in the morning, you'll almost certainly save money by NOT paying for a night's lodging.

Is that $8 a day grand total or $8 a day PLUS TAXES? If the latter, you may indeed find it cheaper to rent a car each way, even when you have drop-off fees. When calculating the cost of renting a car, note that you'll pay gas and tolls whether the car you drive is yours or someone else's.

gb944 - thanks for the heads up, scary to think someone might be using my car while I'm gone.

Paul - A rental costs about $210 with most of the cost rental at EWR on the way back. The $8 is per day before taxes so $120 + taxes...I'm not sure what taxes are up there but I'm guess that could bring the cost up to about $150 which would still beat the $225 airport parking. Thanks for reminding me of the NJ tolls!

I found a deal with the Best Western with 1 night stay & 10 days of parking for $139. Each additional parking day is $11 so that comes out to about $194 + taxes. I'm assuming hotel taxes aren't cheap in NJ.

I guess I might have to drive the older car and use ABC. Our Toyko flight isnt until 11am so don't have to leave too early.

Since you mention you're willing to take the train, another option would be to park at the Metropark NJ train station (in Iselin, NJ, exit 131 off the Garden State Parkway). I think it's $9/day total. (It's $5 up to 16 hours, then $7 up to 20.) I know you can park overnight, but it would be worth contacting them to make sure 15 days is okay. (http://www.metroparkparking.com/) You would then catch the NJ transit train to the airport, 5 stops, maybe less it you catch an express train, for $10.25.

For longer trips we've used the Wyndham Garden Hotel near the airport. It's a typical airport hotel that's been recently renovated. They give 2 weeks free parking in a secure lot with a one night stay. For a long trip, it usually works out cheaper than paying for parking at a private lot.
The charge for extra days is $11, but for our last trip we were parked for 15 days and they didn't bother charging for the extra day.

Thanks Devere! I checked their site and yup with taxes it'll be less than $200. I think its worth not having to get up so early and rush things. This seems like a nice hotel too, thanks again everyone.

A few years ago we stayed at Best Western EWR for one night to get free parking. The place was awful, but it was OK for a few hours sleep.

If you can park and lock, and don't leave the keys, you won't have to worry about them using the car. ((*))
