New Yorkers, what should I pack given the rainy weather?

I grew up in New Jersey, so I know the weather can change in a heartbeat. And I know summers are usually hot and muggy. But if the current rain continues into my trip to New York next week, I'm not sure what to pack for this unusual spell of summer rain. Is it a chilly kind of rain such that I need to bring spring/fall type clothes, you know long pants, sweater, and the like? Or can I just bring hot weather clothes and a raincoat? It's hard to tell from just reading the weather page in the paper what to pack to be comfortable. Any advice is welcome. And I apologize if this seems like a stupid question....

Latest forecast says it's not supposed to rain beyond Sunday. Next week looks pretty nice...and HOT!

Who the he** knows - as recently as 24 hours ago they were predicting cool rainy weather for the entire east coast until Christmas. Now they are saying it is going to rain tomorrow and then start to warm up. You could go to weather.com and see what their coin-flip forecasts are saying, but I am not sure it will actually mean anything.

I live in boston and am experiencing the same weather; it has been all over the place. Some warm rain some chilly rain.

For casual, I have been living in capri's and rotating between light sweaters and t-shirts.

Dress in light layers and bring some kind of light jacket; and, of course, your favorite umbrella

"They" say the rain will end , maybe even tomorrow.
I say, be prepared for floods and bring a mate to take on the Ark with you.
Also hot weather clothes and a light rain jacket should be fine

Miranda:

I predict that the rain is over!!

I also predict (with the help of the weather report) that it will start off at 80 and will hit over 90 by Wednesday!
Can you say Bombay, India!! It will be STEAMY!

I hope the rain is over, at least for the next few days, but rain/thunderstorms are scheduled again for next weekend. That would make it the 5th weekend in a row with sh#tty wet weather. Makes me glad I did not rent a place in the Hamptons for this summer.
