New York- Westin Times Square

Has anyone seen this hotel being built or heard about it? I am interested in staying there in the Fall.

Thanks.

The hotel is diagonally across from the Port Authority Bus terminal, and it abutts one of the new entertainment complexes on 42st. It is next to the Loews theater complex, which also has a large amusement arcade, and restaurants such as Shevys Tex-Mex. The hotel is a tall, all-glass building:very colorful and unusually shaped. The hotels' architect said the design inspiratiion was that of 'a comet falling from the sky'. If you look at it carefully, you will see his design inspiration. It sits atop a subway entrance, so it will be very convienent. The tower is tall, so the upper floors should have great views, since there's not too many buildings blocking it's view. It originally was supposed to have some time-share units; not sure if those are still part of it. From what I read, there will be a workout room, but no swimming pool.

Thanks for all of the info. YOu said it is near Port Authority- is that a bad area (safe at night walking around)? I have never stayed in that area. Last time I stayed across from Central Park.

It's much better than it used to be, but I still won't walk in that area alone at night.

shelby,
Just recently having been to NYC, I can tell you that the hotel is located in a very busy (understatement) side of town.
As with any other city, exercise your caution.
