New York vaca
 

I'm taking a soon mother daughter vaca to New York, would like to stay close to Times Square, found hotels located in Garment District, some reviews stated this wasn't the safest area for walking to and from Times Square, please advise if this is true or not? Thank you!

I'd like to know what reviews you were reading (and how old they are).

The Garment district (between W34th St and W42nd St, and between 5th Av and 9th Av) are busy areas. There is plenty of police in the area.

Walking from there to Times Square should be safe. I don't know what hotel you might pick but if you are going walk to/from Times Square use 7th Av or Broadway as these are the busiest in relation to people walking. 8th Av would be next in that regard.

As with any big city always be aware of you surroundings.
