That's the great thing I found about NYC that weekend, it presents so many opportunities without even searching for them.
Also, I am definitely keeping this thread forever, she actually sent it to a couple of her friends and I think they enjoyed it. All in all, our friends, family, colleagues, etc. are very excited for us. And the planning of it was GREATLY aided by everyone here. I have always been somewhat of a romantic and love nothing more than watching Megan TRULY enjoy herself. But that weekend is stil fresh in our minds. As for the wedding, she is definitely in full wedding mode, which is also fun to watch. Jeremy |
Congratulations! This is so hilarious! I found this post this morning , as I was doing a search for Washington D.C., I sm sitting here smiling, laughing, and absolutely glued to each word. Have you set a date for the wedding? Best Wishes for a wonderful engagement and future together!

topping for other proposal thread

Any of my new found friends here want to offer some honeymoon advice? We are getting married in Tucson in October, yes of THIS year, she works fast!!! I want the whitest beaches with the bluest ocean I can find at that time of the year. Caribbean? BVI? Worry too much about hurricanes?
Not sure if anyone here will still even see this thread, but if you do, [email protected]. Everything has been as amazing as our engagement since that amazing weekend in New York. We talk about it DAILY but have had just as much fun each and every day since then! Thanks Jeremy |
GREECE! No hurricanes there and blue waters!
|
I live in South Florida, and I wouldn't chance making honeymoon plans to come here in October. Hurricane Wilma hit us last year on October 24th. I've recently read that it's a better bet to head to places like Aruba or Trinidad & Tobago (further south in the Caribbean) where there's less of a chance of being affected.
Greece IS one of the most beautiful places in the world... the above poster is right. However, even though the beaches and water are beautiful, besides spending a lot more money, I'm not sure the water will be what you're looking for in October. |
Greece would be very nice....I have a pretty good budget to work with, but not sure if I have enough for Greece. I also don't want somewhere that we have to fly forever to get to. I have been hearing some great things about the Dominican Republic lately...hmmm.

Jeremy, as one of the "early" posters on this thread, I know you've put so much thought and energy into your proposal, etc. and are the kind of guy who wants everything to be great for his bride-to-be...
Given this, I wouldn't consider the Dominican Republic during hurricane season. It's just too risky for you to make all these wonderful honeymoon plans only to spend it in some scary hurricane shelter. The Dominican Republic and other islands in the Caribbean (except those right off the coast of S. America) are in that direct line of fire this time of year. And trust me -- you SO don't want to experience going through a hurricane... they're scary... and that's in my sturdy new hurricane-building-code-compliant house in the U.S. -- know what I mean? Sorry to be a wet blanket about this, but I'd hate to see you have your honeymoon ruined by even the THREAT of something coming, and all the worry that goes along with that. They expect this hurricane season to be a busy one, so I'd really put some thought into this! |
I've heard it is cheaper to fly to Italy and then take a flight into Greece. Check it out on the Europe board.
Maybe 2 nights in Venice and then on to Greece! What a honeymoon that would be! |
Hi Jeremy, I just discovered this thread when it got bumped back up to the top - and I was glued to every word! Congratulations! Megan is very blessed to have such a wonderful boyfriend.
I think Greece would be lovely for a honeymoon, since I've always wanted to go there. But if you're looking at the Caribbean, I wanted to recommend Aruba. My BF and I went to Aruba for the first time this year and really enjoyed ourselves. It's very arid (like Tucson on the water!), but the beaches and water are beautiful. Eagle Beach was voted one of the best beaches in the Caribbean - gorgeous white sand. Many of the "low-rise" hotels on Eagle Beach get great reviews on the Fodor's Caribbean boards. We actually stayed in a "villa" at the golf course, Tierra del Sol. It was perfect for us, just the right mix of autonomy (furnished apartment) and pampering (top-notch restaurant, spa and pool on premises), and removed from the hotels as it's at the northern tip of the island. Anyway, all three of the "ABC" islands are outside of the hurricane belt while remaining a convenient flight from the US. The weather remains basically constant all year - high and low season are dictated by North American popularity rather than climate! Having read this thread, I know that wherever you end up will be magical. Best of luck! |
Thanks all....I am really having a tough time with this. Let's just say that today alone I was close to booking St. Martin/St. Barts and then switched to Croatia!!! Must be my ADD.
I am going to keep looking and agree with you all, it will turn out just right, I am certain of that! I want beaches and sun...I'm thinking $600-700/day for room and board Thanks again everyone....I need to nail this down by the end of the week. Jeremy |
