New York this weekend 3/10
Last minute trip to New York this weekend. What are the must sees? Trendy restaurants, shopping? I am taking 19 yr old daughter also.

Take her down to the village/soho area (NYU neighborhood) and just wander around. There are many interesting shops and restaurants and tons of streets vendors selling all kinds of things. She may like H&M store, there are 2 midtown and 1 in soho (Broadway near prince st).

Something different:

On Sunday morning at 9 a.m. go to Penn Station (33th & 8th/9th). Go downstairs and buy 2 round trip Long Island Railroad tickets to Great Neck (Port Washington line) and get on the 9:19 a.m. train. Get off in Great Neck (approx. 8 stops, a 30 minute ride). Go upstairs and watch the Sarah Hughes parade, which begins at 11 a.m. near the train station. When it's over, have brunch at Millie's Place on Middle Neck Road (near the station) and/or head back to Manhattan (trains leave Great Neck at 39 minutes after the hour).

No wait, make that 33rd and 8th, not 8th/9th.

Hi Lori...here are 3 ideas that cover 3 different interests...You can shop at Antique Boutique (vintage & trendy) on lower Broadway near Washington Place...Screamin'Mimi's on Lafayette and Trash & Vaudeville are also fun places to shop...there's also an open air flea market on lower Broadway near Antique Boutique...you'll also be in the vicinty of NYU and Washington Square Park...if you are in that area you can eat overstuffed sandwiches such as pastrami, corned beef, turkey at Katz's on Houston at Ludlow...or you can shop on 5th Avenue (Henri Bendel's) and Madison Avenue (Barney's) and then have lunch or dinner at the Boathouse in Central Park (enter at 5th & 72nd) or have afternoon tea at The Pierre or the Plaza...you'll also be near the Metropolitan Museum of Art...or, get tickets to see a show and eat at a place such as Sardi's.
