New York or La for September Honeymoon?
Hi All
What city would you prefer if we only had the option of doing one or the other? The onlything stopping us from doing both is the prices for accomodation in New York in September. Your suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks

Sorry we are from Sydney Australia. We will also be going to Vegas and Mexico. So last thing to decide is weather to do New York or LA as we cant afford both.
This will be our first time to the states. Have travelled to Europe and love places like London, Rome and Florance!!

NYC and LA are very different...
NYC is much more "compact" with great public transportation. Lots of people walking on the streets.
LA is a sprawl, and you'll need to have a car to get around. People don't really walk in LA - they drive to everywhere.
It's hard to suggest which one since you're from Australia and never been to the US. Depends on what kind of America you want to see.
I'm sure you've watched plenty of US movies that have LA or NYC in them - which city seems to interest you more?
If it were me - it'd be NYC hands down.

New York is the one that intreats us both the only thing which is a bit of a negative is the price of accomodation compared to LA. I guess I was looking for the feedback to say spend the extra money in New York you wont be dissapointed!!
Thanks

Obviously LA is closer to the other two places you are going and thus probably cheaper. That said, NYC is more like the cities you mentioned liking in Europe. Try Priceline for cheaper hotel rates or even consider renting an apartment on VRBO.com. I personally would pick NY.

New York is much more like a european city than is LA - or really any other US city. It's definitely a walking town - with tons of cute neighborhoods to explore, great food at all price points, tons of outdoor cafes/pubs/clubs - and an amazing array of museums and sights.
LA is - what it is. (NOT one of my favorite places.) Very spread out, no real human center, you live in your car - and it's basically a one-industry town. Also - in September will be very brown and crunchy (although the fires have started very early this year).
(There are parts of California I like - but LA is not on the list.)

I vote for NYC also. I am a native Californian and would rather spend the extra money to go to NYC than L.A. Start looking for accomodations now, book a cancellable room and then try Priceline the week before you are due to leave. Go on biddingfortravel.com for hints on how to bid. My friend did that last year and we got a room at the Hyatt near Grand Central Station for $175 a night. Good luck.
