New York, New York (Las Vegas) would we crazy to try it over the 4th?

Never been to Vegas - heard the New York, New York is fun - we're a married couple in mid 20's that don't gamble much - what do you think?
Depends on how you feel about crowds and hot, hot weather! It is a fun place--loud and noisy, but fun. If you could go at any other time, it would be better.
Vegas for the 4th--- Hot but dry heat. If you have
never been, you will be amazed at all to see. Each
casino has a different theme and each worth seeing.
Hubby puts a $20 limit on me, when I go through that it is on to the next casino...(he doesn't gamble. The "Portifino" restaurant in Desert Inn is excellent, wonderful service, but a bit pricey. We were married in Vegas 19 years ago. Went back for our 15th anniversary 4 years ago. Anyone we told bought us a drink (after verifiying where we were married!) The shows are like no other. Enjoy and don't be afraid of the Taxi's, they are no more pricey than the bus! Stroll for awhile and take a Taxi back to your hotel. It is a wonderful trip!
Since out daughter lives in Las Vegas I spend a great deal of time there (2-3 weeks, 4 or 5 times a year). The 4 times I would always avoid are New Years, 4th of July, Comdex convention & MAG convention.
It is so packed it is hard to get around, taxi or auto may take 45 minutes to go 5 or 6 blocks on the Strip. I would say there will be huge lines at all the Theme Parks, restaurants & other attractions.
As for New York, New York, I do not like the rooms, service, atmosphere or the crowds. The pool is not worth a thing.
If you are looking for a MegaResort, I think MGM would be better, wonderful pool, restaurants, etc.
If you are looking for Luxury then Caesar's new "Palace Tower" is terrific (and you will find lots of resuaurants & shopping in the Forum).
If you want to have fun, the Hard Rock Hotel is great..excellent service, very nice rooms, great pool (they also have a "Pool Party" with a band 2 nights a week.

We loved New York, New York. I loved the whole casino/lobby area set up to look like New York City with shops, restaurants and bars throughout. My husband and I are 30 and 32 and we would definitely stay there again - and we've been to Vegas several times. It was our favorite hotel.
