New York-Ludlow VT the Scenic Route?
I'm driving from NYC to Ludlow Vermont. I'm not interested in speed, but the prettiest and most interesting route that takes one day. Any suggestions? Hudson Valley or CT/MA? I don't plan on stopping much, but want something interesting to look at along the way. Thanks in advance.

Do you ever use via Michelin to check out what they recommend as a scenic route? Even if I go to other sources, it's interesting to compare.
One thing to remember if you are going after the clocks turn back is that unless you get a really early start, or don't stop for anything, you'll end up doing part of the drive in the dark. I don't like to get up early, and I do like to eat lunch, so I'd probably do some of the road for speed, and some for scenic so I could get into Ludlow before dark. |
RFK Bridge-Hutchinson River Pkwy-onto Merritt Pkwy-to I 91-right on up to VT.

Taconic to NY 23 to Great Barrington, MA
US 7 to Bennington, VT VT 9 to VT 100 VT 100 to Ludlow As of last weekend, the color on VT 9 and VT 100 was good to excellent. If you need to make time, take the Taconic to I-90, get off at West Stockbridge and pick up US 7 in Stockbridge or Lenox. |
