I will be visiting New York in the begining of September. <BR>Can Anyone give me advice on a decent hotel under 135.00 per night and in a good area ? <BR> <BR>appreciate the help <BR> <BR>Sylvia <BR>

Difficult to find unless a special offer is around. Remember that tax is like 17% and on top of that is a $2 tourism fee. If you find a rate of $135, you'll really be paying about $160 all-inclusive of tax & charges. I've seen notices of special deals at www.frommers.com

Good hotels in NYC are more expensive than USD 135.00, but you can try some <BR>well located and like 3 stars.The Wellington;St Moritz on thePark;Barbizon <BR>Chelsea Hotel;Park Central <BR>All of them are very well located. <BR>Good luck!

We are going to NYC in July and have reservations at the Days Hotel, located at 48th & 8th. <BR>It is part of the Days Inn chain. Our price is $130/night,pls parking $20/night if applicable, plus tax. <BR>It was hard to find a "middle price" room because we were afraid of the ones that were $99/night, and could not afford the ones for $200/night. <BR>But back to Days Inn...my nephew works in NYC and he said it is newly remodeled and is in a safe area. <BR>I also posted on this forum and received <BR>several responses...all said that it is decent(nothing fancy), has security and they felt safe there and in the neighborhood. <BR>Hope this helps you.

Your best bet for weekend lodging is a stay downtown. It's dead when the Wall Streeter's are not around and most of the upscale properties discount Fri-Sun. The Millenium Hilton is a beautiful four star facility with great views. They routinly offer a price of $130.00 plus tax. There's a subway stop right out front that will take you anywhere you want to go. Rooms are very nice and spacious as NYC rooms go. You won't find a better deal for a quality hotel on the weekends! Watch out for Monday price increase...rooms jump to over $250 per night. Stay elsewhere Mon-Thurs. Good luck!

They have a weekend special for $289.00 for two nights -- about the price you're looking for. <BR> <BR>We had booked it for the weekend two weeks ago and then decided to stay at the Washington Sq. Hotel in Greenwich Village -- BIG mistake. We happened on the place while we were in NYC and realized that we could have had that place for even less than what we paid at Wash. Sq. <BR> <BR>You might not be in NYC on the weekend, but the neighborhood is great -- near everything midtown -- and the place looks great. <BR> <BR>If you go to the website, click on "Special Offer" then click whatever next until you get to the place where you can decide if it is for you. <BR> <BR>--Again, wish we would have stayed there. <BR> <BR>Take care, <BR> <BR>Geo

I agree that weekend rates are probably your best bet and those downtown hotels will give you a pretty nice room for your money. If you prefer to stay more in midtown or uptown try the Wyndham, Mayfair, or Roosevelt. The first two are older hotels that are clean and decent but not fancy and the Roosevelt is a huge, recently redone hotel with a great midtown location.
