Need advice on hotels in NY city...reasonably priced and located so that we can explore the sights...thanks

Well, I'm not sure what is resonable for you. And the sights are all over Manhattan so also need some info on how you feel about busy vs quiet, residential vs commercial, etc. Suggest you look up New York hotels at the search on top and then ask some more specific questions.

If you want to get a deal on a NYC hotel, use Priceline.com. You can select it by neighborhood and then by star rating. Pick a 4 star and you'll probably wind up with the Hilton by Rockefeller Center or the one in Times Square. If you're going between now and Easter, you should be able to get a room through Priceline for 90-100. But, NYC hotel tax is pricey.... Go for the $95 range, Priceline might come back and "yell" at you but you might get lucky and it gets accepted. Susan

I found favoriteplaces.com an excellent site and quite informative. After plenty of research I finally made reservations at Super 8 Times Square, the prices were extremely reasonable for the location and from feedback I have seen on this site it appears to be a good choice.

I used Priceline for our hotel trip and put in 100$ or less for midtown Manhattan and got the MIllenium hotel, which was very nice, but was rightnext door to the UN which is on the eastern side of Manahattan. IT was the eastern portion of Midtown. It was within walking distance to TImes Square, but it wasn't exactly close. Just remember on PRiceline, you have to be flexible.

Adrian,

When is your visit to New York? The Metropolitan Hotel on Lexington is in a great central location. The hotel is carrying out a complete remodel at the minute (60's theme - looks REALLY cool). The work is supposed to be finished by late April, but will probably go beyond that.

You can get great rates for the Metropolitan on Expedia.

Hope this helps.

Using Priceline last July, we got the Courtyard by Marriott Midtown for $75. Excellent hotel and location. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com to research your Priceline bids.

Good Luck, Marla

I have had great luck with orbitz.coom or quikbook.com. Check Marriott's web site for deals too - I found a great deal there last time !
